  Regulations

At Quicksilver we use many different types of explosives, including fireworks, pyrotechnics and even high explosives. There are many different regulations and pieces of legislation which apply to different aspects of our work. As a member of the CBI's Explosive Industry Group we are kept fully up to date with changes in the law and we make use of our membership of the group to influence new legislation.

In 1997 changes in firework legislation (The Firework (Safety) Regulations 1997) only permitted professional firework companies to use the larger display fireworks often referred to as CAT 4 . However many other aspects of our work are regulated within the industry and Quicksilver actively promote raising firework display standards.

Since its beginning Quicksilver have been involved in the development of the UK's first national qualification for firework operators. The BTEC course based at Loughborough College ensures that more operators around the country will be working to the same high standards promoted by Quicksilver and other major UK firework companies.

Licenses

For us to buy and store the wide range of explosives needed to entertain you we have to have licences from both the Police & the Fire Service who regularly inspect us and ensure that we have the necessary knowledge to use our products.

Approvals and Insurance

Quicksilver carry public & product liability insurance to £5million and where appropriate, approvals for firework displays are sought from the national fireworks co-ordinator at the Airspace Utilisation Section, RAF Uxbridge, and from the Coastguard agency. Local Police, Fire and Air Traffic Control services are informed as required.
